ASEAN Sustainable Urbanisation Strategy (ASUS)

Shah Alam was selected as one of eight participating cities within ASEAN in implementing the ASEAN Sustainable Urbanisation Strategy (ASUS). Shah Alam Smart and Safe City Program was the proposed intervention for the city, focusing on introducing digital solutions to enhance safety and security in the city. The intervention is in line with the city’s need for better services in making it inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable – a necessity due to the impact of rapid growth, demographic changes and threats from the COVID-19 pandemic to the population of Shah Alam.

Project delivery included:

  1. Technical advisory support to Shah Alam City Council for the implementation in developing high-quality proposals within the ASUS Framework
  2. Support in the organisation of the ASEAN Sustainable Urbanisation Forum (ASUF), bringing together diverse stakeholders from across ASEAN and supporting the development of improved urban policies
  3. Research and development of a report detailing the State of Urbanisation in ASEAN.
